About Andrew Gardner
Hello, I'm Andy, a wildlife and landscape photographer based in Lancashire, England, with a passion for capturing the beauty of British wildlife and the natural landscapes that surround us.
My photography journey began in August 2025 when I bought my first camera as a way to unwind and mange the stresses of working as a mental health professional. What started as a simple escape quickly became a genuine passion. I began by wandering around with my camera in full automatic mode, photographing anything that caught my eye. Since then, I have dedicated countless hours to learning and developing my skills, progressing to shooting in manual and semi-automatic modes to gain full creative control over every image I create.
Every photography you see here has been taken and carefully edited by me, with the aim of showcasing the incredible wildlife and landscapes that can be found right here in Britain. I offer a range of prints and greeting cards featuring my work, allowing you to bring a piece of the natural world into your home or share it with someone special.
The Craft Behind My Photography: Andrew Gardner
Choosing the Right Lens
Knowing your glass inside out is essential. I select every lens with intention—using fast telephotos to isolate distant wildlife and active dogs, or sharp wide-angles to give sweeping landscapes a true sense of depth and scale.
Mastering Unpredictable Light
Unpredictable weather means outdoor lighting changes in seconds. Through years in the field, I’ve built the instincts needed to adjust exposure instantly—ensuring sharp, clean images whether I’m working in dim woodland or bright sunlight
Intentional Composition
Great photographs rarely happen by accident. Combining fieldcraft, patience, and deliberate framing, I focus on creating balanced compositions that draw the eye straight to the heart of the scene.
